M20 Junction 8-9 Disruption & Overnight Closures

Information on disruption to the M20 between Junctions 7 and 9 over the coming months from the M20 Temporary Solution Team:

Highways England are developing a temporary traffic management solution on the M20 that will allow two-way travel on the London-bound carriageway between junctions 8 at Maidstone and 9 at Ashford, should disruption at the ports mean the coast-bound carriageway is required to manage port-bound HGVs.

To make the road safe for this temporary solution some minor works will be required to the safety barrier and hard shoulder. In addition to these works, routine repairs to the road surface are also planned. These works will commence in early July 2018 and continue through to March 2019.  During this time sections of the road between Junction 8 and 9 will be reduced to two lanes on the London-bound carriageway.

In addition a full closure of the London-bound carriageway is planned on the nights of 8 – 13 July 2018 as detailed in the table below.

ChannelPorts Supporting Dover Counselling Centre

ChannelPorts are pleased to support the Dover Counselling Centre a local charity providing confidential self referral counselling services.

They were formed in 1988 and firmly believe that counselling should be available to anyone who wants it or needs it.

They are BACP members and adhere to the BACP ethical framework.

The Dover Counselling Centre work with employers and offer a wide range of therapies to support all kinds of anxiety, mental health issues, addictions, PTSD and bereavement issues offer tailor made support to each referral.

They also provide services as part of the improving access to psychological therapies programme in England.

Paul Wells, director of ChannelPorts Ltd said, “I could feel the calmness and hear for myself how quiet the centre was which must be important to those who receive [their] help and even for your own staff, even though the busy A2 was only yards away. Thank you and your staff for the work you have done to [help our local community] and we hope that this donation will help [them] to support more people going forward during their difficult times.”

They work tirelessly to help local people cope with difficult times in their life and offer a wide range of counselling and support services in their newly acquired centre near the A2.

Our charitable donation this year of £7000 will go to improving the counselling centre for visitors helping them improve the three areas they identified a need for.

We hope that this donation will help Dover Counselling services to support more local people and assist those most in need of counselling and support.
